Pebulu tangkis tunggal putra Indonesia Anthony Sinsuka Ginting mengaku merasa kagok jelang Japan Open 2025 karena tidak merasakan atmosfer berkompetisi sejak Januari 2025.
“Ada rasa kagok pastinya karena jangankan enam bulan, satu bulan tidak pertandingan saja ada kagoknya,” kata Anthony Sinsuka Ginting dalam keterangan tertulis Persatuan Bulu Tangkis Seluruh Indonesia (PBSI) yang diterima di Jakarta, Selasa.
Ginting bersama rekan-rekannya di tim Indonesia telah menjalani sesi latihan dengan menjajal tiga lapangan di Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium yang akan menjadi arena Japan Open 2025.
Absen berkompetisi yang cukup lama membuat Ginting harus mempersiapkan diri lebih intensif agar bisa bermain lepas saat menghadapi lawan-lawannya.
Ginting mengatakan, telah mendiskusikan hal yang dirasakannya dengan pelatih Indra Wijaya terkait hal teknis di lapangan maupun non-teknis di luar lapangan yang harus dipersiapkan.
Juara Badminton Asia Championship 2023 itu ingin fokus untuk membawa kembali suasana kompetisi, ketegangan, ambisi untuk menang, dan lainnya ke dalam dirinya agar lebih siap menghadapi Japan Open 2025.
“Karena pasti enam bulan kosong seperti samar-samar feel-nya jadi diingat-ingat lagi pertandingan terakhir seperti apa,” katanya.
Pebulu tangkis yang kini berada di peringkat 50 Badminton World Federation (BWF) itu akan memulai perjalanan di Japan Open 2025 dengan menghadapi tunggal putra tuan rumah Kodai Naraoka. Keduanya sudah bertemu di arena kompetisi sebanyak tiga kali.
Adapun, Indonesia mengirim sebanyak 13 wakil untuk berjuang di Japan Open 2025 yang berlangsung pada 15 – 20 Juli mendatang.
